NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Hashed Health consortium, an innovation hub for collaborative networks in healthcare using distributed ledger technologies, today announced that Change Healthcare, one of the largest independent healthcare IT companies in the United States, has joined the consortium to help advance blockchain innovation and distributed transactional protocols in healthcare. Change Healthcare joins Hashed Health’s growing global network of partners.

“We are thrilled to announce Change Healthcare as the newest partner in our growing network,” said John Bass, CEO of Hashed Health. “With a network reaching nearly every payer and provider in the United States, Change Healthcare advances our efforts to create meaningful innovation. By joining the Hashed Health consortium, Change Healthcare is demonstrating that it understands the potential of blockchain technologies to improve care delivery and now is the time to build the networks responsible for the realization of approaching solutions.”

The collaboration between Change Healthcare and Hashed Health validates blockchain’s momentum in healthcare and sends a strong signal to the market that real work is being done to improve workflows, reduce costs, and improve patient care.

Blockchain is an open, distributed ledger technology that facilitates secure transactions between multiple parties, such as payers and providers. These transactions include, but are not limited to, submitting claims, medical records, and payment remittances.

“Blockchain has potential to enable value-based care, and we’re committed to championing innovation that helps our customers and partners realize that potential,” said Aaron Symanski, CTO, Change Healthcare. “We look forward to working with the Hashed Health members to evolve and establish blockchain as a safe, secure, and transparent way to foster financial interoperability in healthcare.”
