On Thursday morning, October 26th, Massachusetts State Representative Kay Khan (D-Newton) visited Change Healthcare’s Newton, Mass., office to learn more about the company and to meet with our InterQual team.
A nurse by training, Rep. Khan is a 23-year veteran of the Massachusetts legislature. She works on issues related to behavioral health, domestic violence, and criminal justice reform. She also serves as the House Chair of the Joint Committee on Children, Families, and Persons with Disabilities, and is the Chair of the Mental Health Caucus.
Rep. Khan joined the Newton staff for breakfast and engaged in a wide-ranging and informative discussion about policy issues, including healthcare cost-containment, criminal justice reform, transportation options near the Newton office, and a local rail-trail.
Our team shared a company update and talked about the exciting work that’s happening with InterQual, such as the InterQual criteria sets, the criteria development process, and the significant footprint that InterQual has in the health plan and hospital markets in Massachusetts.
Rep. Khan was especially interested to hear about the importance of evidence-based clinical criteria in the practice of behavioral health, and was eager to talk about the challenges facing the Commonwealth’s healthcare system. The Representative also presented an overview of the legislative process in Massachusetts, and encouraged everyone to reach out to their elected officials about the healthcare issues that are important to them.
We appreciate Rep. Kahn visiting our offices for an engaging and informative dialogue with the Change Healthcare InterQual team!
